A FOCUSED APPROACH IS NEEDED TO USE TAXPAYER FUNDS FOR CITY SERVICES
Read Chris’ action plan to ensure the tax the residents of Ocoee pay is paid forward with services that the community needs.
AS MAYOR, CHRIS WILL:
1. IMPROVE OUR TRASH PICK-UP SERVICES
The Ocoee residents pay their fair share of city taxes and deserve better trash pickup on a regular basis.
2. IMPLEMENT AN INTER-DEPARTMENT CROSS-TRAINING PROGRAM
We will move to cross train Departments in other specific tasks and equipment operation. This will be voluntary but it is the key to our success moving forward. We are ALL on the same team and when another city Department needs help, we need to be there for them.
3. ADDRESS MOSQUITO PROTECTION IN THE CITY LIMITS
Its past time for Ocoee to provide mosquito protection. I am tired hearing about Orange County or one of the five other Jurisdictions that are in our city are responsible for providing this service. It’s time we take ownership, work through the red tape, and address this issue for the residents.
4. SET-UP A PROPER RECYCING PROGRAM
We will implement a Sign-Up Recycling Program that properly recycles and eliminate wasting money on improper recycling pick-up.
5. ADD STREET SWEEPING TO CLEAN UP OUR COMMUNITY
Let’s start to maintain and care for our street intersections and medians. We need to add street sweeping in these areas overnight. They are currently full of litter and debris.
6. SET-UP A GRAFFITI HOTLINE TO KEEP OUR COMMUNITY CLEAN
We will set up a Graffiti Hotline in public works and cover over all graffiti immediately. This is our city and we should be proud to call it home.
7. BRING BACK QUALITY GARBAGE SERVICE – ON TIME. EACH TIME.
The city unanimously did away with our quality garbage service. As a result, we have a diminished and more expensive service that does not work. The City of Ocoee did this not once but twice within 15 years! This is a total waste of taxpayer money.
8. ADD AN ANNUAL YARD DEBRIS PICK-UP
We will add back a once per year yard debris pick up (6 yards). This allows people to keep their trees cut back from their home (at NO cost).
You may say how will we pay for this? It’s simple. It’s done through re-allocation of funds. I call it a more focused approach for our resident taxpayers and helping the Center of Good Living to live up to its name.
